Course Goal: The Algebra course aims to empower 9th-grade students with a comprehensive understanding of foundational algebraic concepts, fostering confidence and competence in mathematical reasoning. Over three weeks, students will build the skills necessary to solve problems, analyse relationships, and apply algebraic thinking to a variety of situations, ultimately preparing them for future academic pursuits and practical applications.
Course Objectives: Throughout this intensive course, students will demonstrate their ability to proficiently solve linear equations, inequalities, and systems, as well as graph linear and quadratic functions. They will develop the capability to simplify polynomials and factor expressions, ensuring a solid grasp of algebraic manipulation. Additionally, students will learn to apply algebra to real-life scenarios, enhancing their problem-solving skills and ability to interpret and tackle word problems effectively. The course aligns with educational standards, ensuring students meet proficiency requirements while preparing them for subsequent mathematics courses and standardised assessments.
